We started from the Yeoman parking lot on December 24, 2025, and decided to hike the Fulford Road to the Newcomer Spring junction because people at the parking lot—who had just come down the full Newcomer Spring Trail—said snow coverage was low and that they had a difficult time skiing down.
Fulford Road was a mix of mud and snow up to about 10,000 ft. We boot-packed until we were able to skin the road above Fulford to the Newcomer Spring junction. From 10,000 ft to 10,600 ft, the trail had spotty snow coverage. I kept my skins on but definitely could have just boot-hiked and avoided risking my skins (which turned out fine).
From 10,600 ft to the hut, the trail had decent coverage going up but was deteriorating rapidly. When we left on December 27, 2025, the trail had turned into hard-packed crust and ice—completely unskiable unless you’re insane. We boot-packed the upper trail section back to the road, where we were again able to skin the roughly one-mile section above Fulford before hiking the remaining 2.5 miles back to Yeoman.
From Seipel to New York Mountain there was decent snow coverage on the lower sections but the trail quickly turned into a web of dead fall and low snow coverage around 11,400ft due to those conditions and not seeing a great path to ski down we didn't continue above 11,400ft.
