You can’t just repurpose an AM diode detector for SSB like that it won’t recover audio properly because SSB needs a product detector with a BFO injecting the missing carrier. Without coherent mixing at IF, you’ll just get distortion or silence, so the detector stage has to be replaced, not modified....
